Word of the Month

January's Word of the Month is Courage.

Courage means:

Telling the truth when it would be easier to lie.
Standing up for what you believe in, even if people laugh at you.
Doing the right thing, even when it is hard.
Facing your fear.
Taking risks for something you believe in.

Mary Muñoz Wing

Our Mary Muñoz Wing was dedicated in the Spring of 2007 to honor the memory of  Widewater Teacher, Mary Muñoz. Mary taught in Stafford County for 32 years, 19 of which were in both Fourth and Fifth Grades at WES. Mary passes on her passion for teaching to her colleagues and her love of learning to her students. In addition to the Wing dedication, we also wear the old Widewater colors, turquoise, black, and white, on November 14 each year, which we call Muñoz Day.

Our Mission

The mission of Widewater Elementary School is to challenge each student to reach his or her potential, instill a love for life-long learning, and prepare him or her to be a productive citizen of the global community.

The Widewater Way:
Respect yourself, adults and others
Practice self control
Solve problems peacefully
Dedicate yourself to learning!
