Welcome to Widewater Elementary - home of the Wildcats and the best staff and students in Stafford County!  I am very proud to be the Principal of Widewater Elementary School and I am very excited about working with each of you to ensure the success and safety of our world's greatest treasures - our children! At Widewater Elementary we encourage all of our families to stay involved in the many educational experiences offered. The staff at Widewater Elementary believes in differentiated instruction, in order for each student to reach their personal best, and we are dedicated to developing life long, global learners through this instruction.
Throughout this school year I encourage all of us to maintain consistent communication between home and school.  This communication may take place in the form of notes, emails, phone calls, or bulletins .  Please remember to check your child's backpack, and make time to 'chit chat' with your child daily, in order to stay aware of his/her progress, school day adventures, school  events, field trips, lunch account information and other important reminders.
Please take time to read with your child every night, review homework and discuss their day - alot of what children learn in a day does not necessarily come in the form of pencil paper tasks or can fit in their bookbag. The majority of our children's learning is packed away in their brain, and they are very eager to share it with you.  Take time to share your day with your child, as well, and discover the similarities between life as an adult and life as a child - we are all learners learning something great everyday!
Some of the exciting happenings at Widewater Elementary this year include Chess Club, the Annual One Mile Run, Engineering Club, Chili Cook Off and our Science Extravaganza.  Some new events/concepts coming on board this year include a schoolwide discipline plan, a family movie nite, an on line lunch account payment  plan and the Watch D.O.G.S program.
As we head into the new school year I ask everyone to practice the Widewater Way in their daily lives and to prepare to make this the best school year ever!!!!!!

Just a thought:
Scientifically speaking it is impossible for a bumble bee to fly. There is no rhyme or reason how a bumble bee flies with such tiny wings and an overly proportioned body....but it does. Sometimes an explanantion is not necessary in order for the impossible to take flight!
